一、意思不同
1、want to do sth的意思是：表示某人想要做某事
例句：
I want to eat for I am feeling hungry.
我感到饿了想吃点东西。
2、want doing sth的意思是：表示某物需要（应该）……，相当于want to be done.
例句：
The computer wants repairing.
这台电脑需要修理。
二、用法不同
1、want to do sth：日常用语，强调主观愿望。主语一般为人，用于主动语态。
2、want doing sth：多用事物做主语，相当于need。doing与句子的主语成动宾关系。

一、作动词

2、want可接由that引起的宾语从句，表示“请求、命令、建议”等，主要用于美式英语中。

1、want用作名词时意思是“缺乏、不足”，是抽象名词，不可数，引申作“需要的东西，想往的东西”时，是可数名词，常用复数形式。

3、for want of和from (the) want of在句中均可用作原因状语，但前者多用于主语指人的句子，说明理由； 而后者多用于主语指事物的句子，说明原因。

今天在linked  in公众号上看到一篇文章，具体名字不记得了，内容也看完就忘差不多了，只能说我得这个记性啊，越来越差了……但是记得里面提到了 “want” 和 “need” 两个词，关于真需求和伪需求，真需求是“need”，伪需求是“want”，一个是“需要”，一个是“想要”。
  
 突然就在想这两个词，对于我们的日常生活和学习来说，有什么意义所在呢？我们似乎可以好好思考一下，我们需要什么?我们想要什么?
  
 如今，由于自媒体的发展，网络学习，知识付费开始，或是持续火热中，因为不受时间，地点的限制，使得人们可以在任何时候打开手机去学习。和大多数人一样，总想着有空一定要给自己多冲冲电，但是琳琅满目的学习内容，真的都是我们需要的吗?
  
 所以这个时候，我们是不是该思考一下，哪些是need，哪些是want?是的，我们都想成为学识渊博的人，成为见多识广的人，但每个人的精力有限，时间有限，脑容量有限，所以，是不是应该先想想need呢?当前需要什么?当前缺乏什么?然后再去选择学习的内容呢，而不是从众心理，因为某个主题火热，我就想要学习这个主题……
  
 其实今天真的不知道应该写点什么，许久没有动笔，许久没有记录过自己的想法，甚至有点不会表达了。突然觉得高中那个时候的自己是多么厉害，任何一个论题，都能洋洋洒洒写1500字，那个时候的自己，上知天文，下知地理，所以那个时候不是因为want高考，而是need去面对高考，所以才那么努力学习吗？突然又觉得自己矛盾了……其实不管怎样，努力提升自己是没错的啦!
